The Farthings Leatherhead Wins Award

The Farthings, Leatherhead Wins Award At The ‘Oscars’ of the House Building Industry

Beechcroft’s ‘The Farthings’ in Leatherhead was a winner in the Best Retirement Development category of the WhatHouse? Awards 2018.  The competition, often referred to as the ‘Oscars’ of the house building industry, recognises and showcases the best new homes in Britain.

Beechcroft’s Sales Manager, Louise Wright, accepted the silver award from comedian, actor and television presenter, Jack Whitehall and television personality, Gabby Logan, at a glittering ceremony held at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.

The Farthings comprises 35 elegant, new, two and three-bedroom houses designed for the over 55s and set in landscaped grounds just off Randalls Road in Leatherhead – a location described by the WhatHouse? judges as a ‘great location within walking distance from the smart Surrey town of Leatherhead.’  Although The Farthings is just a short distance from the town centre and railway station, Beechcroft will be providing a private bus service to and from the town centre so owners are able to leave their cars at home.

The judges selected Beechcroft as a winner because ‘Beechcroft has placed the owner at the heart of the scheme, providing every property with some outside space, either a balcony or garden, and a minimum of two double bedrooms, both large enough to accommodate a carer if necessary.  There are even some super three-bedroom apartments, measuring over 2,000 square feet for those who need extra space, offering a sun room, dressing room and private terrace and garden.’

The judges’ report also praised the flexibility of the layouts and the architecture which is a ‘nice mix of exposed brick and timber which gives the scheme a warm, welcoming appeal.’  The parking gained a special mention being conveniently close to the houses and apartments – as did the spacious owners’ lounge and the gardens with ‘well-stocked communal flower beds which are reached by easy-to-navigate pathways’ and provide ‘nice seating areas.’

“We are delighted to receive this prestigious award at what is considered to be the most important event in the house building calendar.  The retirement category is hotly contested with entrants from all over the UK,” comments Beechcroft’s Sales Director, Holly Foreman.  “The Farthings has proved popular with our customers – who are impressed with the space, style and high-quality specification on offer.”

At The Farthings, an on-site Estate Manager handles the day-to-day administration of the development, the cleaning and maintenance of the communal areas - and is on hand to offer help and advice and to keep an eye on properties whilst owners are away.

The unique relationship between Beechcroft and the neighbouring care home ensures that owners at The Farthings have access to the facilities on offer at the care home including a café, cinema room, a leisure and wellness programme, social events, daily hot meals and a laundry service.  There’s also a beautifully decorated guest suite for overnight visitors at The Farthings.

Currently available at The Farthings is a trio of three-bedroom houses priced from £650,000.
